Jennylynn Adleta: Changing the world by Changing Communities
In episode #60, Brandi sits down with Jennylynn Adleta, wife, mom, and self-proclaimed broke
philanthropist who helps meet needs within online communities. Brandi actually met Jennylynn
in a Facebook group and the two have built an online relationship since. Jennylynn discusses
mortality motivation as she shares her story of childhood trauma and her suppressed
memories being triggered from a high level traumatic incident with a student on campus while
serving as a Resident Director at a Bible College. She shares the pain of having to walk
through season, developing PTSD from the event, and her mental health rapidly spiraling as
she repeatedly attempted and had no desire to live.
Jennylynn vulnerably shares her story of redemption through God’s grace after hitting rock
bottom. She tells us how God used her husband and step children to help restore her
physically, mentally, and spiritually. We hear from Jennylynn about her role as a step mom and
how her family is breaking all stigmas attached to blended families and co-parenting. She
shares about her own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy as a step mom and how she
learned to overcome them.
She shares with us her struggle with autoimmune disease, her family’s unique living situation,
and their commitment to living debt-free in order to accommodate her health crisis. Jennylynn
tells us that nearly dying has taught her to live differently and cheer her friends on from the
sidelines
We also learn how Jennylynn is committed to following Jesus, loving his people, changing
communities, and ultimately changing the world.
Here are a few of some of our favorite quotes from Jennylynn in this episode:
“This was the example that Jesus set for us; how we love people and love them well. This is
why we’re here. Shouldn’t we just do this?”
I”’m not here to impress you. I want someone to catch the vision and do this. If you catch the
vision and we all start doing this. This is what changes the world. “
“What if we all start advocating for each other? This is what changes communities. This is
what changes the world.”
