This week, I have the privilege of chatting with Donna Durham of Weighting Comforts. Donna grew up in Nashville, TN and is a woman of strong faith and hope. She is a wife of 25 years and a proud mom of 3 kids.

She earned her BS in Home Economics Education from Middle Tennessee University in 1993 and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with her Masters Degree in Marriage & Family in 2014.

Donna’s life was unexpectedly changed when making weighted blankets at her kitchen table exploded into a full time business. She is the Founder of Weighting Comforts, and runs it alongside her son, Josh who has recently been named to Forbes 30 under 30 for Social Enterprise.

As a means to growing demands, Donna contracted with refugee women to sew weighted blankets. Her eyes were then opened to how difficult it is for refugees and immigrants to find work and integrate into American culture.

Weighting Comforts employs refugees and immigrants to sew blankets in order to help them provide for their families as well as provides paid English classes to all of their employees.

To follow along with Donna’s journey, find her on IG:
